Submission Deadline
All entries must be received at BOX, LLC, c/o URBAN HABITATS, 395 Reas Ford Road, Suite 140, Earlysville, VA 22936 USA, no later than 5:00pm on Friday, July 1, 2005. Note this is not a postmark deadline, the actual competition entry must be delivered to BOX, LLC at the address above by the stated date and time. IMPORTANT: Do not ship your entry to the Charlottesville Community Design Center.
Late Submissions
Submissions received after 5:00pm on the competition due date will be considered late and will be disqualified from the competition. Entrants are advised to keep precise records of any express mail or delivery service arrangements.
Submissions
Each submission will consist of:
2 – Display Boards including a 250-word statement
1 – CD-ROM containing PC-compatible files of the Display Boards and Written Statement
1 set – Submission Forms, Proofs of Display Boards and CD-ROM in a 9-inch x 12-inch (A4) opaque envelope
Display Boards A detailed description of the Display Board follows in the Presentation Requirements section.
CD-ROM
A CD containing digital files of the Display Boards must accompany all submissions. Clearly label the CD with the registration Identification Number.
The PC-compatible contents must be organized as follows:
- Display Boards in .PDF format (no larger than 50mb per Display Board)
- Written statement in .DOC or .PDF format, as a separate file
- All fonts used for the Display Boards
- Source file in .TIF or .JPG or .PSD format, 24 inches x 36 inches (60cm x 90cm) @ 200dpi)
Include an 8.5-inch x 11-inch (A4) hard copy proof of each display board in the large opaque envelope along with the other required Submission Forms.
Submission Forms
Professional submissions The printed online registration form bearing the signature of a registered entrant and the signatures of all contributing team members must accompany each entry. The form and proofs plus the CD-ROM should be placed in a 9-inch x 12-inch opaque envelope attached to the back of one of the Display Boards.
Student submissions The printed online registration form bearing the signature of a registered entrant and the signatures of all contributing team members must accompany each entry. The form and proofs plus the CD-ROM should be placed in a 9-inch x 12-inch opaque envelope attached to the back of one of the Display Boards. Student entrants must also submit a copy of their valid student identification
International submissions The printed online registration form bearing the signature of a registered entrant and the signatures of all contributing team members must accompany each entry. The form and proofs plus two (2) copies of the CD-ROM should be placed in a large (A4) opaque envelope. International student entrants must also submit a copy of their valid student identification.
If you choose to ship printed and mounted display boards, do not register as an International Entrant. Register as a regular Professional or Student, pay the regular entry fee and follow the general Submission and Presentation Requirements.
Identification Number
Each registered entry will receive an Identification Number upon completion of the registration process. The number must be located in the lower left hand corner of each Display Board in a sans-serif typeface with a half-inch (1cm) cap height.
Anonymity Display Boards shall bear no identifying name or mark other than the Identification Number assigned at registration. An opaque envelope containing a copy of the Submission Form is to be attached to the back of one board. The envelope will be removed prior to the judging. The Identification Number will be the submission's sole form of identification during the judging process.
No participant is to reveal, directly or indirectly, the identity of any design or to communicate with any member of the jury, Charlottesville Community Design Center, Piedmont Housing Alliance or Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville except as provided in this competition document. No design for this competition shall be published until after the results of the competition have been announced. Each participant in submitting an entry affirms compliance with the guidelines as set forth in this brief and agrees that any violation will result in immediate disqualification from consideration.
Disqualified Submissions The contact person will be notified by email of an entry that is disqualified. Entries will be available for pick-up from BOX, LLC, 395 Reas Ford Road, Suite 140, Earlysville, VA 22936 USA, until Friday, July 15, 2005. Materials remaining after that date will be removed and disposed.
